Description of project - Zine/Artist Book - "Interconnection"

Interconnection is an artist's book/ zine that contemplatively explores the inherent links between humanity, nature, and the cosmos. Through a visual narrative that portrays the analogous relationships between these entities. The intention behind this endeavor is to promote an understanding of our profound connection to the natural world, with the aspiration that such awareness may encourage us to assume a more responsible role as stewards of our planet.

This publication is a reaction to the work and research I have done during the past months. Compiling the images I've produced through video, print, and photography, converging them into a cohesive dialogue. My earlier works have predominantly been large-scale, emphasizing the immersive experience of the viewer to enhance the exploration of themes such as the sublime and the intangible. However, this zine will adopt a more compact format and employ cost-effective materials, to make it accessible to a broader audience. It is meant to serve as an art piece that people can contemplate in various outdoor settings, whether in a park, by the ocean, or under the night sky while gazing at the stars – thereby connecting the artwork with the very environments that inspired these images.

Interconnection, spanning 24 pages, will be printed in A5 format and bound either through saddle stitching or pamphlet stitching. Utilizing a risograph machine for printing aligns with my ongoing exploration of the relationship between the digital and the physical. It highlights how the digital realm surpasses temporal constraints, existing beyond the realm of the natural and alluding to the intangible.

The use of this process furthers my experimentation with transforming images, modifying them in a manner that takes them away from their source and propels them towards abstraction and formlessness. Through close-up captures of the natural world, it establishes the interconnection intrinsic to all entities on this planet.

The following section showcases the work in progress done so far, this will continue to grow until the 13th of November when the final work will be exhibited at the A.P.T Gallery
